Resonances from recently held Africa Future Leadership Public Service and Entrepreneurship awards: 9.0

The 9th edition of the Africa Future Leadership Public Service and Entrepreneurship awards which came under the theme, “ Africa for Africa: Resetting Africa’s economy for prosperity” was held on Saturday, 5th October 2024 at Oriental Hotel, Victoria Island Lagos.

This year’s event aimed to inspire a renewed focus on economic strategies that promote sustainable growth and prosperity across the continent. It had in attendance men and women from all walks of life.
It worth its while as it was an opportunity for the leaders, innovators, and change-makers at the event to share insights, celebrate achievements, and ignite conversations around reshaping Africa’s economic landscape.

The event kicked off with an opening prayer and the National Anthem, performed by Vocibelly, setting the tone for a day of inspiration and recognition.

Guest speakers at the event including; Dr. Lucy Surhyel Newman, Prof. Efem Ubi, Dr. Ngozi Omambala, Dr. Psammy Anistar, Charles O’Tudor, and Ali Baba.

A special feature titled “Mental Massage” by The Media captivated the audience, followed by a vibrant musical interlude performed by The Elite Music, which energised the atmosphere.

One of the high points of the event was the launching of a book titled “Africa’s Leadership Challenge: A Call for Strategic Action,” authored by Ambassador. Mark Idiahi.

The highlight of the evening was the award presentations. The awards celebrated individuals and organisations that have made significant contributions to their communities and industries, recognising their dedication, creativity, and impact. Attendees were inspired by speeches, networking opportunities, and the stories of resilience and innovation shared throughout the evening.
Speaking earlier, the convener of the event, Amb. Mark Idiahi, emphasised the importance of celebrating Africa’s change- makers.

According to him : “This platform recognises those leading the charge in transforming society through innovative public service and entrepreneurship.”

This year’s awards, he said not only celebrated achievements of the awardees, but also served as a clarion call for collective action towards economic reset and empowerment.

In his words: “As we move forward, let us continue to champion the spirit of “Africans for Africa,” working collaboratively to build a prosperous future for our continent”.
It is interesting to note that the networking session provided an exclusive opportunity for attendees to connect, collaborate, and inspire one another towards a brighter future for Africa.
